Addiction

Thursday February 27, 2025 9:00AM - 11:00AM

Drs. Dogris and Thompson will discuss the clinical profile of Addiction. Addiction is a neuropsychological disorder characterized by a persistent and intense urge to use a drug or engage in a behavior that produces natural reward, despite substantial harm and other negative consequences. Repetitive drug use often alters brain function in ways that perpetuate craving and weakens (but does not completely negate) self-control. This phenomenon – drugs reshaping brain function – has led to an understanding of addiction as a brain disorder with a complex variety of psychosocial as well as neurobiological (and thus involuntary) factors that are implicated in the development of addiction.

Addiction can be profiled in the brain using EEG technology and more impressively, treated using Neurostimulation. Discover what EEG brainwave signatures are most often seen in addicts and how neurostimulation can help.

This lecture series features Nick and Tiff, together. Tiff will detail the profiles seen in various conditions and Nick will discuss protocols he finds most effective in changing the condition’s presentation and its corollary symptoms.
